We are looking for an experienced Instructional Designer to participate in developing specifications and design learning and practicing experiences for the various courses offered at Medvarsity. The role is part of a team of content developers and reports to the content development manager.

Job Summary: As the Lead Instructional Designer at Medvarsity Online Ltd., you will play a pivotal role in shaping our educational content and driving the instructional design strategy. You will collaborate with a team of instructional designers and subject matter experts to create engaging, learner-centric courses that meet the highest standards of medical education. Your leadership and expertise will be instrumental in maintaining our position as a leader in online medical education.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Instructional Design Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of instructional designers, providing guidance, support, and expertise in instructional design principles and best practices.
  2. Curriculum Development: Collaborate with medical subject matter experts to design and develop comprehensive curricula that align with Medvarsity’s educational objectives.
  3. Course Design: Oversee the design and development of multimedia-rich course content, including eLearning modules, videos, interactive simulations, and assessments.
  4. Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality, accuracy, and consistency of instructional materials through rigorous review and evaluation processes.
  5. Innovation: Stay current with the latest trends and technologies in online education and medical training, and recommend their integration to enhance course delivery and engagement.
  6. Project Management: Manage multiple instructional design projects concurrently, including resource allocation, timelines, and budget management.
  7. Assessment and Evaluation: Implement robust assessment and evaluation strategies to measure the effectiveness of learning solutions and drive continuous improvement.
  8. Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including content developers, multimedia specialists, and platform developers, to ensure seamless course development and delivery.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Work with the content team to produce well-written audio and video scripts that enhance the quality of course assets.
  2. Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface, and the finished product.
  3. Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process.
  4. Help create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc.).
  5. Decide on the criteria used to judge learners’ performance and develop assessment instruments.
  6. Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts.
  7. Communicate effectively with the development team during the project life cycle.
  8. Plan your time effectively and work with senior team members to ensure you can meet deadlines on multiple projects.
  9. Some project and client management as agreed with senior team members.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field.
  2. Proven experience (10+ years) in instructional design and instructional technology.
  3. Education or experience in life sciences/medical education will be an additional advantage, but not mandatory.
  4. Lesson and curriculum planning skills.
  5. Strong knowledge of course development software and Learning Management Systems.
  6. Basic knowledge about visual design and ability to storyboard.
  7. Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, and audio scripts/video scripts.
  8. Certification in Instructional Designing is a must.

Requirements:

  1. Analyze learning aims and objectives and work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design solutions that align with these.
  2. Expert in the usage of generative AI tools
  3. State instructional end goals and create content and course methodologies that match them.
  4. Apply tested instructional design theories, practices, and methods.
  5. Work with the content team to create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer.
  6. Work with the content team to produce well-written audio and video scripts that enhance the quality of course assets.
